Red Cross International Services

Making the world smaller

International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement's mission is to relieve human suffering and promote world peace. The organization consists of three main components, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and over 175 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies. These components unite under the common goal of promoting worldwide humanitarian assistance of man-made and natural disasters.

Tracing Services

When war, civil unrest or disaster cause families to become separated, loose the inability to communicate or not know if loved ones are still alive. To address these issues, Congress chartered the American Red Cross to provide tracing, message delivery and other international services. Working with the American National Red Cross in Washington, D.C. messages and tracing requests are exchanged with other Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Working with other members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement around the world, the Southwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross accepts tracing requests from residents in Clark, Cowlitz, Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties who have lost contact with family members overseas.

For more information, please contact your local American Red Cross.
